Helping Casper's homeless is the goal of an event coming up on January 26th. Casper Housing Authority CARES says the 2nd Annual Project Homeless Connect Natrona County, or PHCNC, event will take place Friday, January 26th at King's Corner on Beech Street.

PHCNC is a "one-stop" shop for those who are homeless or close to homeless in our community. "What we've found in our community is that the homeless have a hard time connnecting with some of the services because we are a spread-out community," says Lori Burns with Casper Housing Authority, "and so sometimes it's hard to connect those people who might not realize about all the resources in our town."

Members of the homeless or nearly homeless community are invited to drop by and  services from multiple community agencies and businesses. The event is free, and will provide hot meals, healthcare, pet care, legal advice, haircuts, employment services, coats, hats, housing assistance, veteran aid, and more, according to CHA.

PHCNC is currently looking for volunteers to help with the event, as well as different items that will be given away to those that attend including:

  • Adult size warm socks
  • Deodorant (sticks)
  • Bars of soap (regular size)
  • Wash cloths
  • Small flashlights
  • Sanitary Pads (7-10)
  • Disposable Razors
  • Combs
  • Brushes
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Blankets
  • Back Packs
  • Warm hats, gloves and scarves

If you're interested in volunteering during the day, you can contact Serve Wyoming and tell them you'd like to volunteer for Project Homeless Connect.
