A Natrona County man changed his plea to amended sexual assault charges Tuesday in Natrona County District Court.

51-yr-old Joseph Sterling was originally charged with two counts of first and second degree sexual assault of a minor in an incident that happened in July. On Tuesday Judge Thomas Sullins amended the charges to 3rd degree sexual assault of a minor stemming from the incident which investigators say occurred between Sterling and a 15-yr-old victim in Evansville.

Sterling admitted guilt pursuant to an Alford plea meaning he admits guilt but without admission to the alledged facts surrounding the assault.

Sterling faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, plus restitution.

He remains free on a $5,000 bond and awaits sentencing
