Staff at the Natrona County Clerk’s Office spent most of Wednesday wrapping up work related to Tuesday night’s general election.

Natrona County clerk Renea Vitto says turnout was strong across Natrona County.

We had 32,597 voters that turned out,” Vitto said. “We started with about 28,000, so we had around 4,000 new registered voters and a lot of long lines yesterday.”

Vitto says, despite long lines and nearly running out of ballots at some polling places across Natrona County, voters and election officials did not encounter any significant problems.

I think it went really well,” Vitto said. “We had our election judges bringing back all of their information they needed to bring back to the courthouse by 9:00 p.m., which is really good with the lines that they dealt with.”

Vitto says roughly 1,000 more Natrona County residents voted in Tuesday’s election compared to 2008 figures.
