Officials with the Bureau of Land Management say Muddy Mountain Road will open for the season on May 30.

BLM officials warn, however, that several areas of the road will likely be wet and muddy due to melting snow. In a release, assistant field manager Rhen Etzelmiller said, at this stage, caution must be used when driving the road.

Poor driving conditions kept the road closed over the Memorial Day weekend.

The road provides access to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, which includes several campgrounds and recreation trails.

The road is located south of Casper off South Circle Drive. It is usually closed between the end of November and the beginning of June.
