Muddy Mountain is the destination for a 5-mile "Climb to Conquer Cancer" this Saturday morning. The American Cancer Society holds the event to raise funds for cancer research. This year will be the sixth annual.

David Castle is hike organizer for the American Cancer Society here in Casper.

"It's a fun event. We've got our signature event, the Relay for Life, but this is a way to capture people that show up in the morning, get a little exercise, and take in some nature. We'll feed ya, and we'll get ya off the mountain to enjoy the rest of your day."

Castle says they encourage organizing teams. He says about 150 hikers participated last year.

The pre-registration fee of $35 dollars goes toward research. That fee goes up to $40 dollars on Saturday morning.

Hikers rendezvous at the intersection of Circle Drive and Muddy Mountain Road at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd, where the hike begins and follows the road up to the campground.
