A motorcycle rider on Interstate 25 Saturday evening was killed after being hit by a car from behind.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sargeant, Steven Townsend, says it happened a little after 6 pm north of Wheatland.

"Both drivers were southbound on the interstate. The motorcycle was being followed by a second vehicle. For reasons unknown at this time the driver of that second vehicle ran into the rear of the motorcycle, which caused the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected."

51 year old, Frederick E. Jones, of Scotsdale, Arizona was riding a Honda, Shadow when he was hit from behind by 69 year old, Curtis Thompson, of Mesa, Arizona who was traveling in a 4-door Lexus.

Sgt Townsend says, while both were from the Phoenix, Arizona area, he does not believe they were traveling together.

Few details were available about the crash and the investigation has been turned over to the Platte County Attorneys office for review.

"There was no mention of alcohol or drugs being involved, so we'll just have to wait until the investigation is complete."

The Platte County Attorney's office will determine if any criminal charges are filed as a result of the crash.
