Motorcycle Accident in Sybille Canyon

Wyoming Highway Patrol

59 year old Ron Cumley of Albuquerque, New Mexico was riding his motorcycle eastbound on WY 34 in Sybille Canyon Thursday around noon.. Cumley was headed with friends to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. For unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate a left sweeping curve in the roadway as he drove off the right side of the highway. Cumley was unable to control the bike once it left the road. He was estimated to be traveling 55 mph when the crash occurred.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Department and Wheatland Fire Department responded with the Wyoming highway Patrol and requested a helicopter from Greeley Air Flight. The highway was shut down temporarily so the helicopter could land near the crash scene. Cumley was flown to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming with upper extremity and chest injuries. He remains in intensive care at this time.
