A recent Casper Rotary Club update to Natrona County Commissioners   talked about upgrades to Rotary Park.    Rotary President, Bill Schilling, told  the Commission  the club plans to  focus  money raised through  their Duck Derby on park enhancements...

"We started up there this year with paving and striping for parking.  We plan on doing a new trail from the north end of the park going up to the bridge.  And then long term,  some discussions about over all improvements in the area there."

Shilling says the park upgrades will be a long term effort, spanning several years.

Schilling's a frequent user of the park and the trail that follows Garden Creek up one side and down the other, spanning about four and half miles. He suggests its time to consider safety issues....

"Our concern is to come up with a plan to consider what are the potential liability issues up above the falls of some one inadvertently falling while there trying to climb down one side or the other or for that matter climbing down the falls themselves,  which I saw two weekends ago."

The Duck Derby, Schilling says, nets around $100, 000  each year.  Cross Roads Park,  off of North Poplar in Casper, has gotten about a 1/2 million in upgrades through Derby proceeds.  Now, he says, they look to funnel dollars to improving the park at the foot of the mountain.
