Monty Python Flick Kicks Off Film Festival

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, there was none funnier than the comedians of Monty Python and there was no funnier movie than "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". If you know the significance of the quote "It's only a flesh wound" you are already laughing, if not here is your chance to be educated.

The 1975 British comedy, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” will be shown on Friday, March 28 beginning at 7 p.m. at Casper College. The film is the first film of the 2014 Casper College Multicultural Film Festival, “Comedies from Around the World.”

Erich Frankland, film festival director and political science instructor at Casper College said,

“We decided to go with a lighter theme than in recent years,This year's theme and films were picked in order to explore the universality of humor and the impact that culture has upon perception and happiness. The three films span the globe from the United Kingdom to Japan to Southern Africa,”

“Monty Python and the Holy Grail” stars the British comedy group Monty Python featuring comedians Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. The PG-rated film, which was originally released in 1975, is now considered a comedy classic.

A post-film discussion will be led by Holly Wendt, Casper College English instructor and Casper College student Lisa Adams.

The Casper College International Studies Program, the Casper College English Department, and Casper College are the sponsors of the 2014 Multicultural Film Festival.

The film will be shown in the Wheeler Auditorium, Room 103 of the Wold Physical Science Center on the Casper College campus. The showing is free and open to the public.
