"Operation Prairie Eagle" takes flight Friday around noon as state and federal agencies participate in a mock biological disaster requiring mass distribution of medical supplies.

Natrona County Health Department Director, Bob Harrington, says its an exercise that involves accessing the Strategic National Stockpile from the Centers for Disease Control.

"CDC has available a huge stockpile of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals that they can make available to state and local health departments."

Harrington says the fictional scenario begins in Casper and involves communication to the Governor who in turn makes the request of the CDC. Distribution will be statewide and involve getting medication out to about 75,000 people in two days.  The exercise continues next week with state agencies taking part, including hospitals statewide and the Wyoming National Guard.
