LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A missing laptop computer was at the center of a fight involving Wyoming basketball player Leonard Washington.

Washington was subsequently charged with criminal entry and battery. He pleaded guilty and was fined $530, given a suspended jail sentence and placed on unsupervised probation.

A Laramie police report says Washington and fellow UW basketball player Shakir Smith entered a residence without permission on April 15.

Washington accused two occupants of the residence of trying to break into Washington's residence. One of the men earlier had accused Washington and Smith of stealing his laptop.

The Associated Press reports  that a brief fight ensued.

Before the incident Washington had been suspended from the team for unspecified violations. He remains suspended indefinitely.

Smith remains an active member of the team.
