An open house and ribbon cutting  Friday celebrates the Mercer Family Resource Center's recently completed move into a new expanded facility on West Yellowstone in Casper.

The move comes after 40 years operating as the Mercer House in several locations; one, a quaint, but dangerously old house across the street from Natrona County High School.

Cory Cosner-Burton, is the Center's Executive Director.   "The main house that we were operating  at was  100 years old.   So we were at a point where we were gonna be shut down if we didn't find a new location."

The Open House comes after a multi-year search for a new building.  The move brings all the associated agencies of the Mercer Family Resource Center under one roof where they continue the mission of providing education, counseling, and referral services to youth and their families.

Cosner-Burton says sale of the former properties will cover some of the new building costs, but she says fundraising will start soon in a big way.

"We'll be doing an annual fundraising dinner that we'll plan each year- kind of kicking off this year with our fortieth anniversary- and then we'll be kicking off the capital campaign as well,  but we have been saving for over ten years."

The Mercer Family Resource Center's open house and ribbon cutting happens Friday 11am.  Their new building is located at 535 West Yellowstone.
