The Wyoming Senate is considering a bill that would try and reform the state's Medicaid program. Senator Charlie Scott, Chairman of the Senate Labor, Health and Social Services Committee, says that could be difficult because of the limitations put on the state's by the federal government.

federal regulations are such that we cannot adequately control expenses...

The Wyoming House passed a bill on second reading that would require the Department of Transportation and Wyoming Game and Fish Department budgets to go through the same process as almost every other state agency. Representative Sue Wallis, a member of the Joint Appropriations Committee, says it is time.

The Department of Transportation is the second largest budget in the state....

A look at some bills that didn't make it.A bill that would prohibit the use of state money for conservation easements was laid back in the House Agriculture Committee, which means it is likely dead. Representative Mark Semlek says he doesn't think using state funds for conservation easements is a good idea.

it just seemed like we were picking and choosing several areas....

Finally a bill that would have required students to take math in their last year of high school and a bill that would have required students to stay in school until they are 18, failed on third and final reading in the Senate. Laramie Senator Chris Rothfuss says he is disappointed the bills failed.

it's difficult to get some of these types of policies changed....right approach to changing education..
