One worker and one resident were injured, after a small explosion that occurred at an assisted living community center on Casper's east side.

A Casper Fire EMS spokesperson on scene said sometime before 5pm Friday, June 6th, there was an explosion involving the hot water heater at the Meadow Winds Assisted Living Community Center, located near the intersection of East 12th Street and Walsh Drive.

One worker was injured as a result of the explosion and was taken to the hospital.

Emergency workers ordered that the building be evacuated, and during the evacuation, one resident was injured when he/she fell down, and was also taken to the hospital.

All other occupants of the building were relocated to other assisted living centers and will return to Meadow Winds, once repairs to the hot water heater are complete and inspectors determine that everything is safe.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the explosion.
