An inmate at the Natrona County Detention Center has taken his own life.

Officials with the Natrona County Sheriff's Office say 22-year-old Matthew Brown of Utah, committed suicide on Tuesday morning, July 24th.

Investigators say when his cell door was opened for  breakfast, Brown ran up a flight of stairs, then jumped from the second floor balcony at the Natrona County Detention Center.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital about six hours later.

Brown was arrested by Casper Police on Sunday for property damage.

The Sheriff's Office says Brown showed no signs of suicidal tendencies when he was booked,  and suspect no foul play in his death.

His cellmate is being interviewed and the investigation continues.
