Mary Jane Jackson, 1932-2013
Mary Jane Jackson went home to be with The Lord on February 18, 2013. She was born on March 14, 1932 in Atchinson, Kansas to Gladys and Matthew “Chick” Downing, Sr. She attended Lincoln Grade School, and graduated from Atchinson High School in 1951. She married Donald Jackson on April 26, 1952. A few years later the family relocated to Casper, WY. They were happily married for 48 years until he was laid to rest in February 2000.
One of her favorite pastimes was cooking. She was blessed to be employed as a cook for the majority of her life, working for the Gladstone Hotel when they first moved to Casper. She also worked for the First Presbyterian Church, East Junior High School and Kelly Walsh High School. She retired from Natrona County School District.
For the majority of her life she was a very Godly woman with a strong love for the
Lord. She was a strong, loyal member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for many
years and rejoiced in sharing her love for the Lord with her family and friends. She
also loved fishing and cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family
and friends. She spent many an hour watching her children and grandchildren, play
sports and enjoyed every minute of it. Mary Jane will always be remembered for her
kind heart, caring and loving ways. Her loving attitude extended far beyond her family, many of her children’s friends still call her “mom” to this day.
Mary Jane and Donald had six children. She is survived by her sister, Donna Smith,
her four sons, Donald Jackson, Jr., Ronald and wife Cathy, Marvin and wife Loy, and Lesley and wife Tina, eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, twin daughters, Connie and Bonnie, eleven brothers and sisters and daughter-in-law, Patty Jackson. Her greatest passion in life was her family and she will be dearly missed.
Services will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Seventh Day
Adventist Church on Casper College Dr. in Casper, WY.
