A Casper man will avoid prison after admitting that he assaulted his girlfriend and tried to clean up the scene.

Mark Wood was given a four-to-six year suspended prison sentence, along with three years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated assault and battery.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say just before the Christmas Holiday 2014, they were informed of the situation, when the victim checked into the Wyoming Medical Center, because she had multiple bruises over her body and a black eye.

She ended up having surgery for a head injury.

She told investigators that on the night of the incident, Wood began screaming at her, threw her off the bed, kicked her, and put her in the bath tub.

She said she did not have a history of seizures

Officers then went to Wood's trailer on Center Street and knew he was inside, but could not make contact with him.

They then obtained a search warrant, and when he didn't respond, they forced their way into the trailer.

Police were able to determine that Wood had cleaned the bathroom and surrounding areas with bleach, but did manage to find several droplets of what they suspected was dried blood.

When interviewed, Wood said he had been drinking earlier, and his girlfriend was not feeling well, so he put her in an Epson salt bath, but then she began having seizures.

He was unable to explain the bruises on the victim.

Wood has also been ordered to complete the felony program at the Casper Re-Entry Center.
