Police say they initiated a homicide investigation after being called out for a welfare check at 1650 W. 500 N. just after 3 p.m. Monday.

Officers arrived and found a dead 15-year-old girl. Police say she lived in the home where her body was found, and the killing evidently took place earlier Monday.

The victim's name has not been released, due to her age. Police have not released the apparent cause of death, but they say detectives continue to develop leads in the case.

Police provided the photo below, noting that it is not an actual photo of the vehicle. The camouflage pattern may be different.
