Sweetwater County authorities have recovered the body of a man who fell through the ice and drowned while ice-fishing at Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Rich Haskell identified the dead man as 50-year-old Kevin Holloway of Green River.

Haskell says Holloway fell through the ice Tuesday afternoon while fishing less than 100 yards from the reservoir's western shore, about 16 miles south of Green River. Another fisherman heard Holloway call for help and tried unsuccessfully to rescue him with a rope.

Holloway's body was recovered about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday by members of the Sweetwater Dive Team and Sweetwater Boat Team.

Undersheriff Craig Jackson says there is still open water in the area and says the ice isn't safe for fishing.
