A 55-year-old Casper man has been arrested and charged with arson.

Peter Potter lives in a trailer park on Westshore Drive, and on the night of September 4th, Casper Police were called by a neighbor, Tiffany Rose.

She told them Potter was causing a disturbance.

Police tried to get him to come out of his trailer, and he began shouting that he would burn it down.

Casper Fire and Rescue were called, and as the police entered the trailer, they saw Potter with a gas can and butane lighter, and police report he set fire to the gas-soaked carpet.

Fire fighters put the fire out, and Potter was arrested.

He has been charged with 1st degree arson which is punishable with a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Potter has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental illness.

He is being held on $50,000 bond awaiting trial.

A judge has ordered him to undergo a mental evaluation.
