Magpul makes magazines for Wyoming governor

Wyoming Arms

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead is getting a new commemorative rifle that will include magazines from Magpul Inc., a company moving some of its operations to Wyoming after its former home state of Colorado enacted gun-control legislation.

Mead commissioned the AR-15-type carbine from Wyoming Arms.

Magpul is supplying a selection of magazines holding up to 40 rounds.

The company had been located in Erie, Colorado, but it’s moving its operations to Wyoming and Texas after Colorado passed legislation last year prohibiting the sale of magazines holding more than 15 rounds.

Mead’s version of the .223-caliber rifle will feature custom engraving of the state seal and his signature. Mead has said he wants a Wyoming-made rifle for sentimental reasons and doesn’t plan to hunt with it.
