A new library initiative from the Natrona County Library Board of Trustees gives the New Library Citizen-Led Task force something solid to consider.

The job of the task force is to determine if a new library is something the community wants. If built, it would be located on property already acquired in the Old Yellowstone District.

Library Director, Bill Nelson says the current building, at 32,000 square feet, is about half the recommended size for a population the size of Natrona County.

"Its about 1.1 square foot per person to be served so with 75,000 people you can see that 32,000 square feet is dramatically undersized."

The Board proposes seeking $25.2 million in funding via a general obligation bond along with other sources.

The next task force meeting is Monday, March 26th, 6:30 pm at the library and is open to the public.
