They call it Lemonade Day, and Thursday, it came to Casper.

The program began in Houston and the goal is to teach young people the fundamentals of running and planning a business as an entrepreneur.

Hilltop National Bank and its President John Jorgensen are sponsoring the event.

The metaphor for all this is a lemonade stand and, like kids from time immemorial, it is a great way to learn the basics of free enterprise.

The goal is over 500 lemonade stands, making a profit, in Casper.

The kick off was held at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming, who will be spearheading the program.

Speaking at the event were Casper Mayor Paul Meyer, Hilltop Bank President John Jorgensen, City Manager John Patterson, Ashley Bright of the Boys and Girls Club, NCISD Superintendent Steve Hopkins, and K2 Radio General Manager Bob Price.
