Construction on the new flexible technology center at Laramie County Community College has begun, but college officials say the building will cost more than originally planned.

LCCC President Joe Schaffer says the new building might cost as much as $2.4 million more than the original cost of the approved $14.1 million.

The college is now required to seek approval from the Wyoming Community College Commission for the increased price tag.

Schaffer on Wednesday said the school has already pulled $1.4 million from the reserve fund for the project, and will now only need about $500,000 to complete the project.

The technology building will house flexible and engineering technology classes as well as other technology-based programs.
