Representatives of several Wyoming Law Enforcement agencies joined Wyoming Special Olympics athletes for a torch run to the steps of the state Capital Building in Cheyenne Thursday morning to highlight the beginning of the statewide Special Olympic games in Laramie.

Teddy Harbaugh, co-director of the Wyoming Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run, says the event is held  to help raise awareness and funds for the games. She says the Law Enforcement Torch Run is a worldwide organization that promotes the games across the globe.

Harbaugh says agencies taking part in the Cheyenne event included the Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff's Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, U.S. Marshals Service and F.E. Warren Air Force Base. The statewide games will continue through Saturday, according to Harbaugh.
