Albany County lost a law enforcement leader Friday with the passing of Undersheriff Rob DeBree. Local law enforcement officers paid tribute to the late undersheriff on stage Friday night at the 2016 Cowboy Kickoff inside War Memorial Stadium.

DeBree passed away suddenly while hunting earlier in the day.

DeBree was the county's first K-9 officer and rose through the ranks as deputy sergeant, detective sergeant and detective lieutenant in his time with the sheriff's office.

"He was an outstanding leader within our department and the law enforcement community," the Albany County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. "Our condolences go out to Robs friends and family."
