A Casper man denies he endangered a child late last year.

At a court appearance, Kirk Steffey entered not guilty pleas to charges of child endangerment meth and child endangerment.

Casper police say in early December 2011, they found a young boy out in the cold, and later determined that he was staying at Steffey's place at the time.

When officers found Steffey, they say he became belligerent and defiant...and claim he was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Steffey later then said he was caring for the child, who had been dropped off by his mother.

When police entered the residence, they found meth paraphernalia and residue.

Steffey is free on fifty-thousand dollars bond, and is awaiting trial.
