Killer Storms Highlight Value Of Weather Radios

Tornadoes killed dozens last week and weather experts believe that some of those lives could have been saved with a weather radio from the  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

John Simenesky with the National Weather Service says its like having a smoke detector, but it's a weather detector.

"If a tornado warning comes out and you're asleep the radio can alert you and that in itself is invaluable."

He says weather radios run on  batteries and cost between $40 and $100.

He says with one in your home or office you won't be one of the unfortunate ones who didn't get the warning.
