Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says he supports a proposed annexation of about 900 acres of the Swan Ranch Industrial Park, despite concerns that it will cost the city more money than it will bring in.

The city council earlier this week postponed the annexation proposal until August 26th so that council members can review a revised development agreement before voting on the issue. Some opponents of the proposed annexation say it's not a cost effective move for the city because the expense of extending city services to the area will outweigh the revenues that will go the city

But Kaysen says he feels it the duty of city government to try to ''grow the city in a prudent manner''. He also says over the long term the benefits of the annexation will eventually exceed the cost to the city. He  points out the area is not yet fully developed, so a final picture of benefits vs. cost to the city is not yet clear.
