CAMPBELL COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR DAVID KING SAYS THE WINDS THOUGHT TO BE FROM MICROBURSTS OCCURRED ABOUT 4:40 A.M. AND LASTED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES.

THE GILLETTE NEWS RECORD REPORTS THAT DAMAGE INCLUDED THE ROOF OF A GARAGE BEING BLOWN 100 YARDS (91 METERS), A CAMPER BEING PUSHED 15 FEET (4.6 METERS) DOWN A DRIVEWAY AND A SHED LOSING ITS ROOF.

MICROBURSTS ARE INTENSE WINDS THAT DESCEND FROM THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE AFTER A THUNDERSTORM OR RAINSTORM AND FLOW ALONG THE GROUND.

KING SAYS TWO MICROBURSTS LIKELY FORMED AS A RESULT OF OVERNIGHT RAINS IN THE AREA.
