LORI BURNS OF THE CASPER HOUSING AUTHORITY SAID HER AGENCY COORDINATED THE ANNUAL "PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT NATRONA COUNTY" WITH ABOUT 30 OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES ORGANIZATIONS AT THE KING'S CORNER AT BEECH AND EAST FIRST STREETS ON FRIDAY.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE EVENT WAS THE "POINT IN TIME" HOMELESS COUNT FRIDAY WHEN GOVERNMENT AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS CANVASSED NEIGHBORHOODS TO COUNT THE NUMBER OF HOMELESS PEOPLE.
GOV. MATT MEAD ANNOUNCED THE PROGRAM A YEAR AGO SAYING "THE 'POINT-IN-TIME' COUNT GIVES NUMBERS RATHER THAN RELYING ON GUESSES ABOUT THE MAGNITUDE OF HOMELESSNESS IN THE STATE.
BURNS ADDED THE HOUSING AUTHORITY DOES ITS WORK YEAR-ROUND WITH ITS HUB PROJECT, WHICH ALLOWS THE HOMELESS TO COME IN AND REGISTER FOR A MAIL BOX AND A VOICE MAIL BOX, AND TO ALLOW THEM TO USE COMPUTERS.
FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY ON NORTH DURBIN STREET.

CASPER, WYO. (AP) - PRELIMINARY DATA SAY POWDER RIVER BASIN COAL PRODUCTION FELL TO 75.5 MILLION TONS IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS OF 2017, ABOUT A SEVEN MILLION TON DROP COMPARED TO THE FINAL THREE MONTHS OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

THE CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE REPORTS DATA FROM THE MINE SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION SHOW PRODUCTION AT THE 12 MINES IN NORTHERN WYOMING, HOWEVER, ROSE TO 305.3 MILLION TONS IN 2017, A 6.3 PERCENT INCREASE COMPARED TO THE YEAR PRIOR.

WYOMING MINING ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TRAVIS DETI SAYS HE BELIEVED POWDER RIVER BASIN COAL COMPANIES ANTICIPATED THE NUMBERS AND COULD LIKELY ABSORB THE DIMINISHED DEMAND.

THE 12 MINES PROVIDE THE BULK SHARE OF THE COUNTRY'S COAL SUPPLY.
