A CASPER MAN WITH A LENGTHY CRIMINAL HISTORY HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH STRANGLING HIS GIRLFRIEND AND DOMESTIC BATTERY.
TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD JESSE KRAFT HEARD THE FELONY COUNT OF STRANGULATION; AND THE MISDEMEANOR COUNT OF DOMESTIC BATTERY DURING HIS INITIAL APPEARANCE BEFORE NATRONA COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE BRIAN CHRISTENSEN ON MONDAY.

KRAFT TOLD CHRISTENSEN HE HAS THREE CHILDREN BY THREE DIFFERENT WOMEN.

ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY TREVOR SCHENK SAID KRAFT IS ON PROBATION, HAS A CONVICTION FOR KIDNAPPING, AND HAS VIOLENT TENDENCIES.

CHRISTENSEN SET HIS BOND AT $50,000 CASH OR SURETY.

COURT RECORDS SAY THE CASE BEGAN FRIDAY MORNING WHEN CASPER POLICE OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A RESIDENCE ON SOUTH CEDAR STREET TO ASSIST THE PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICE ABOUT WHETHER KRAFT AND HIS GIRLFRIEND MAY HAVE THEIR PROBATION REVOKED.

THE GIRLFRIEND SAD ON JANUARY 31ST, SHE AND KRAFT ARGUED AND THE DISPUTE TURNED PHYSICAL.

KRAFT PUSHED HER AGAINST A WALL, PUT HER IN A HEADLOCK, GOT BEHIND HER AND CHOKED HER THREE OR FOUR TIMES.

SHE WAS YELLING FOR HIM TO GET OFF HER, PULLED HIS HAIR AND SCRATCHED HIS ARMS.

KRAFT TOLD AN OFFICER THEY ARGUED, THE DISPUTE TURNED PHYSICAL, AND SHE TRIED TO PULL HIS HAIR.

HE SAID HE PUT HIS HAND ON HER NECK TO PUSH HER AWAY, BUT DENIED CHOKING HER.

THE DOUGLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A 24-YEAR-OLD MALE ON SATURDAY.

THE DEPARTMENT SAID IN A PREPARED STATEMENT THAT OFFICERS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL PERSONNEL FROM THE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF CONVERSE COUNTY WERE DISPATCHED ABOUT 5:25 P.M. SATURDAY TO AN ADDRESS IN THE 200 BLOCK OF NORTH SECOND STREET, WHERE THEY FOUND THE BODY.

THE VICTIM SUFFERED FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SINGLE GUNSHOT WOUND.

THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT RELEASING THE NAMES OF THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED PENDING PROPER NOTIFICATION.

THE CASE IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE CONVERSE COUNTY CORONER'S OFFICE, THE CONVERSE COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, THE WYOMING DIVISION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION AND THE WYOMING CRIME LABORATORY.

THE DRIVER STEERED THE TRUCK TO THE RIGHT IN EFFORT TO RE-ENTER THE ROADWAY.

HE THEN COLLIDED WITH THE MEDIAN SIDE OF THE BRIDGE DECK GUARDRAIL FACE.

THE PICKUP THEN TRAVELED ALONG THE BRIDGE DECK BEFORE IT ROLLED OVER THE GUARDRAIL AND LANDED ON IT'S ROOF, ON THE I-80 BUSINESS LOOP BELOW.

AT ABOUT 6 A.M., ANOTHER MOTORIST SAW THE CRASHED PICKUP AND CALLED 911 AND TROOPERS WERE SENT TO THE SCENE.

30-YEAR-OLD KYMBRLEE SMITH OF GREEN RIVER WAS WEARING HER SEAT-BELT BUT WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, 31-YEAR-OLD SAMUEL SMITH OF GREEN RIVER, WAS ALSO WEARING HIS SEAT-BELT.

HE IS CRITICAL BUT STABLE CONDITION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH MEDICAL CENTER IN SALT LAKE CITY.

3 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE...AGES 10, 3 AND 1 WERE ALL EITHER IN CHILD SAFETY SEATS AND/OR WEARING SELT BELTS.

THEY WERE ALL TREATED AND RELEASED FROM A HOSPITAL IN EVANSTON.

THE PATROL SAYS FATIGUE IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A LEADING CAUSE OF THE CRASH.

THIS IS THE 6TH HIGHWAY FATALITY IN WYOMING FOR 2018.
