WYOMING FEDERAL JUDGES RECENTLY SENTENCED 10 DEFENDANTS FOR CRIMES INVOLVING FIREARMS, DRUGS, ASSAULT, AND ILLEGAL ALIENS.

THE WYOMING U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SAYS JUDGE SCOTT SKAVDAHL SENTENCED JEREMIAH MARTINEZ OF CHEYENNE TWO FOUR YEARS, THREE MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR BEING A FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM.

SKAVDAHL SENTENCED CHRISTINA MARQUEZ OF SACRAMENTO, CALIF., WHO WAS ARRESTED IN RAWLINS, TO SEVEN YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE METHAMPHETAMINE AND FOR CARRYING A FIREARM DURING AND IN RELATION TO A DRUG TRAFFICKING CRIME.

SKAVDAHL SENTENCED JAVONN RAE LYNCH OF FORT WASHAKIE TO ONE YEAR IN PRISON FOR ASSAULT, RESISTING, OR INTERFERING WITH A FEDERAL OFFICER.

HE SENTENCED ALLEN HENDRICKSON OF ROCK SPRINGS TO THREE YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR BEING A FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM.

SKAVDAHL ALSO SENTENCED CHER YANG OF ROBERTS, WISC., FOR POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE MARIJUANA. YANG WAS ARRESTED IN CHEYENNE.

YANG RECEIVED FIVE MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT, TO BE FOLLOWED BY TWO YEARS OF PROBATION.

JUDGE NANCY FREUDENTHAL SENTENCED MANUEL SANCHEZ OF CHEYENNE TO EIGHT YEARS, ONE MONTH OF IMPRISONMENT, FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE METHAMPHETAMINE.

JUDGE ALAN JOHNSON SENTENCED ANGELO REYES OF BLYTHE, CALIF., TO FIVE YEARS, 10 MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE METHAMPHETAMINE.

FREUDENTHAL AND JOHNSON ALSO SENTENCED THREE MEXICAN NATIONALS ARRESTED IN TETON COUNTY FOR ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY OF A PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED ALIEN INTO THE UNITED STATES.

THEY ARE SUBJECT TO DEPORTATION AFTER RELEASE FROM CUSTODY.

WYOMING U.S. REP LIZ CHENEY HAS INTRODUCED A BILL TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF DAYS THAT HELI-SKIING IS ALLOWED IN WILDERNESS-QUALITY LAND SOUTH OF TETON PASS.

CHENEY'S BILL WOULD AMEND THE WYOMING WILDERNESS ACT AND SUPERSEDE A 2006 FEDERAL COURT OPINION THAT LIMITS THE NUMBER OF SKIERS COMMERCIAL HELICOPTERS CAN FERRY INTO THE PALISADES WILDERNESS STUDY AREA.
