Many athletes that are used to warm climates are getting a reality check this weekend in Casper.

Sixteen junior college teams from across the country are in Casper this weekend (November 19-21, 2015), to compete at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division One Volleyball National Championship Tournament.

Some teams come from Florida and Texas where they are not used to the snowy weather, wide open spaces and mountain scenery that Wyoming has to offer.

Heather Bowersox from the College of Central Florida says her team came prepared.

"We thought about it a lot and we bought big heavy coats and scarves. I personally love the cold, my teammates, not so much. A lot of them are international, so they are not used to it."

Teammate Alyssa Gage says she's considering either vacationing or possibly taking up residency in the cowboy state.

"I love the mountains. looking out and just waking up to see mountains everyday, is such a blessing, because in Florida it's flat. There's no mountains, no nothing and just looking out in the morning and seeing the sun rise behind the mountains is beautiful."
