A Casper man is going to prison after he intentionally started a fire.

Forty-seven year old Jefferey Oliver was sentenced to serve four-to-six years in prison, after pleading guilty to one charge of first degree arson.

Investigators say in mid-April, Oliver started a fire in a refrigerator in an apartment on the three-hundred block of North Lincoln Street.

Four adults and two children were in the apartment at the time, but all were able to escape without injury.

Oliver later admitted to police that he wanted his girlfriend to pay more attention to him, so he started the fire and then went back to bed, with plans to put out the fire and save everyone.

But the fire got out of control, extinguishing Oliver's plans to play hero.
