Update: As of 10:40 a.m., both lanes of Interstate 80 between Evanston and Lyman had reopened after being closed for several hours due to a winter storm. But poor travel conditions persist in much of the area as well as in other parts of Wyoming and motorists are being reminded to exercise caution.

UPDATE 10:15 a.m. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 between Evanston and Lyman have now reopened, but the westbound lanes remained closed at last report.

Original Story: Winter weather has forced the closure of Interstate 80 between Evanston and Lyman in both directions.

As of 8:20 a.m. the closure remained in effect and the WYDOT website said it wasn't known when the Interstate would reopen.

WYDOT also was reporting slick conditions with black ice on I-80 between Arlington and Cooper Cove Road and Happy Jack Road and Buford.

Travel conditions across most of Wyoming were slick at best, with snowfall and fog reported in many areas.

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for most of Carbon County, with some mountain areas expected to receive up to a foot of snow,

Motorists are being warned to check travel conditions before hitting the highway as winter weather continues through today and into Thursday before warmer conditions are expected on Friday.
