A Tuesday morning accident south of Cokeville in Lincoln County has killed an Idaho man.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says 60-year-old Gerold Ramsey of Montpelier, Idaho, was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 30 shortly before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when his 1999 Plymouth Neon swerved and collided with a northbound tractor trailer driven by 62-year-old Douglas Fulgham of Rock Springs, Wyo.

Ramsey died while being transported to a nearby medical facility. Officials say Fulgham wasn’t hospitalized.

Ramsey’s spouse told troopers that she had been Ramsey’s passenger just prior to the accident. According to an official report, Ramsey’s spouse said that she had been left at a truck stop earlier that morning in Cokeville after raising concerns about her husband’s inability to maintain a single lane of traffic.

Prescription medication use by Ramsey is being investigated as a contributing factor in the accident.
