CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A 150-mile section of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Rawlins is closed because of heavy snow and weather-related accidents.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports some 40 to 60 vehicles involved in crashes west of Cheyenne on both sides of the highway. No fatalities have been reported but there are some injuries.

The National Weather Service has posted winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories for southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne and Laramie. Up to a foot of snow is possible in the surrounding mountains.

Snow lingered Thursday in areas of central Wyoming where more than a foot of snow fell Wednesday in some mountains. Lander received about 6 inches and Cody 4 inches.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation reports slick roads throughout southeast Wyoming.
