Hunters Asked To Avoid Burned Areas Near Rawlins

RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — Hunters are being asked to avoid areas burned by two wildfires in Carbon County this summer.

The Ferris and Seminoe wildfires burned over 12,000 acres 30 miles northeast of Rawlins this summer, including popular hunting areas on the east end of Ferris Mountain and north and west of Seminoe Dam.

The Bureau of Land Management is asking that hunters don't hunt in those areas to give the habitat a chance to recover. There may not be many wildlife living there anyway because of the loss of forage and human activity in the area due to the fire.

If hunters do end up in those areas, the BLM urges them to stay off on roads and off of burned land and paths broken by fire engines to minimize erosion.
