Casper Mayor Kenyne Humphrey said Friday she will not seek another term in that role.

"I don't ever want to be that politician that stuck around so long that you inhibit progress," Humphrey told K2 Radio News.

Humphrey will remain on Casper City Council for another year.

Humphrey said she hasn't taken for granted her time as mayor, and says it's a good way for someone with energy and vision to make a positive impact within the community.

"It's an amazing blessing, and makes you be a part of the community where you're connected to people you've never been connected to before," Humphrey said in a phone interview.

Council's next meeting is set for Tuesday.
