The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 51 year old Hillsdale resident Stanley D. Harnish Saturday afternoon for Attempted Second Degree Homicide.  Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokesman Gerry Luce says the incident occurred at about 3 p.m. Saturday when Harnish’s wife said that an individual or individuals were defecating at the base of the radio tower approximately 300 yards and across the County Road from their residence.

Luce says the initial investigation indicated that Harnish went outside of his house and fired a shot in the air with a 7mm Magnum rifle and then jumped in his pickup and drove to the county road where he yelled at two technicians at the base of the tower and then fired another shot that stuck the radio tower within 10 feet of the two technicians on the radio tower (again, working approximately 300 feet up on the tower). Harnish then returned to his residence where he was taken into custody by Deputies from the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department.  Initial investigation also indicates that alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

Luce says Harnish is in custody at the Laramie County Detention Facility and scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Tuesday.  The Sheriff’s Department is working with the District Attorney’s Office in this incident.
