CODY, Wyo. (AP) — Work is set to start this week on a $12.3-million highway improvement project on the east side of Cody.

Todd Frost is resident engineer with the Wyoming Department of Transportation in Cody. He says that work will include widening about 3.5 miles of U.S. Highway 14A to five lanes with a continuous turn lane.

The project is the final element of a series of projects to widen 24 miles of U.S. 14A between Cody and Powell.

The contractor's schedule calls for the bulk of highway excavation efforts to begin in September. Oftedal Construction, Inc., which has offices in Casper and in Miles City, Mont., and Casper, is the prime contractor. Work is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
