Thousands of motorcyclists will be traveling through Wyoming on their way to the 75th anniversary of the annual rally in Sturgis, S.D., from Aug. 3-9.

An estimated one million bikers are expected to attend the event, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol encourages motorists to drive and ride safely, respect each other and keep each other safe.

If you are planning to travel to northeast Wyoming, especially in Crook and Weston counties, be prepared for heavy traffic and delays during peak hours of the day.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol will have additional enforcement the weeks before, during and after the event. Troopers will have high visibility in the northwestern area of the state and will promote traffic safety through education and enforcement.
The Highway Patrol urges people to plan ahead, check weather forecasts, watch for wildlife on the highways, designate a sober driver and be courteous.
