Motorists traveling in Wyoming during the long Labor Day Holiday weekend will see extra vigilance by State Troopers on our roads.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol will be stepping up enforcement efforts with more Troopers who will be working overtime, according to patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Townsend

On August 30th and 31st, the Wyoming Highway Patrol will be participating in a DUI Task Force with the Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff's Office and the Wyoming State Parks Law Enforcement.

Townsend says the statewide special enforcement effort will continue through Labor Day, with troopers targeting drunk driving as well as other types of behavior that pose a public safety threat Townsend says Wyoming's statewide highway fatality count is down by 28.75% compared to this time last year.

But of this year's fatalities, 22.2% have been alcohol related and 55.56% of those killed have not been properly restrained.
