A power outage on Casper's east side stretching into Evansville knocked out power to over 2800 homes and businesses just before 3pm this afternoon.

"It appears that high winds blew debris inside one of our electrical substations which broke a glass insulator and caused a loss of power to all of the lines going out of the substation."

Jeff Hymas for Rocky Mountain Power says crews are on site working to restore electricity in stages.

Hymas says, as of about 4:00 pm, half the customers were back up and running and they expect to have everybody restored by 6pm.
