If you've eaten pizza in Custer, South Dakota recently you may have been exposed to Hepatitis A.

The South Dakota Department of Health says a food handler at Pizza Works was confirmed to have the highly contagious liver disease.

"The virus can be carried on an infected person's hands and spread by direct contact, or by consuming food or drink handled by the ill individual," said Dr. Tracy Murphy, State Epidemiologist with the Wyoming Department of Health.

"We want Wyoming residents who may have traveled to this nearby community to be aware of the situation because it is in a popular recreational area near our state," Murphy added.

Murphy says people who ate at the restaurant between June 19 and July 5 should contact their healthcare provider to see if they would benefit from treatment to lower their chances of becoming ill.
