CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming Senate committee is set to hear a bill that would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in the provision of state services.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has set a hearing for Wednesday morning on the bill sponsored by Laramie Democrat Chris Rothfuss.

Rothfuss has said that it's critical for Wyoming to offer equal treatment for gays and lesbians as the state seeks to recruit high-tech businesses.

A House committee earlier this week recommended approval of a bill that would allow same-sex domestic partnerships, essentially giving gays and lesbians the legal rights of heterosexual married couples if the bill becomes law.
