Ham Radio Field Day In Casper June 28th-29th At Fairgrounds
If you are a Ham radio operator or just want to learn more about the practice, the Casper Amateur Radio Club is holding it’s annual Field Day for you this weekend. Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada with more than 35,000 radio amateurs gathering with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations. Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June and this year falls on June 28-29, 2014. All the action gets started beginning at Noon Saturday and running through Noon on Sunday.
Due to a powerful RF noise level on the mountain that interfered with transmission and reception, the event this year has been moved to the Natrona County Fairgrounds.
Any and all who are interested, Hams or not, are invited to attend. Wear comfortable clothing, bring drinks and you should feel free to bring whatever amateur radio equipment you would like to show off, test, or use during the weekend. If you participate in a niche subset of amateur radio, there are always people around who would like to learn about it.
If you are interested in becoming a ham radio operator or possibly upgrading an existing license, Field Day is a good time to do it. No license is required.
As is their tradition, the Casper Amateur Radio Club will be providing burgers and dogs for Saturday evening. Bring your own chips, deserts, salads, etc to share with the rest and enjoy!. All other meals during the event are on your own.
If you are coming from out of town there are a limited number of camper/RV spaces available. Any requests for RV hookups should be directed to the fairgrounds business office in advance of the weekend. Also keep in mind that there is ample room to set up a tent or small shelter to work out of during the event.
