CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Senate has voted down a bill that would have allowed people who hold concealed weapons permits to carry guns onto school campuses and into many public buildings.

The Senate voted 25-to-3 to defeat the bill. It already had passed the House. The House had voted to allow people with concealed carry permits to carry guns in all schools and most public buildings.

In earlier votes this week, the Senate had amended the bill to specify individual school districts would be allowed to vote whether to allow guns in their schools while local governments also would vote whether to allow guns in public buildings under their control.

Some critics in the Senate have said they were concerned about low levels of training required to get concealed carry permits.
