Cheyenne-based Great Lakes Airlines announced Monday night that it was ceasing operations as of midnight on Monday.

The company made the announcement on its website and facebook page. The decision leaves Cheyenne without any commercial air carrier, as Great Lakes was the only carrier serving Cheyenne. Great Lakes had been experiencing financial difficulties for quite some time, and at one point last year owed the Cheyenne Regional Airport $80,000.

By the time of Monday's announcement, Great Lakes had stopped serving every Wyoming community except Cheyenne. We will report further details on this story as they become available.
